A “Day in the Life” portrait session at The New Children’s Museum

Children & Family

I love how these images turned out from the “Day in the Life” session at the New Children’s Museum!

Mom reached out to me and said that she wanted to do a family photo session but not at a traditional outdoor setting. She wanted a location where her family could play, explore and interact. She was looking for images that were not posed but more like a documentary style. She said that the kids love to go to the New Children’s Museum and I am so glad we chose this location. I love the playful, artistic and relaxed atmosphere this place offers. I hope these images will be cherished for years to come.

If you are interested in doing a mixture of traditional portraiture and a documentary style portrait session like this one, let’s talk! Here is another example of a “Day in the Life” portrait session where I visited a family home.

Enjoy!

A “Day in the Life” portrait session aims to capture the everyday moments and activities of a family. The goal is to document a typical day or a specific period in their life, highlighting their routines, interactions and emotions.

During a Day in the Life session, I spend several hours with a family. I become an observer, documenting the moments as they naturally unfold without much intervention or posing. The session can take place at a client’s home or any outdoor location, capturing their morning routine, meals, hobbies, interactions with family members or pets, work or school activities, and any other significant aspects of their daily life.

A “Day in the Life” portrait session offers a more personal and intimate perspective compared to traditional portrait sessions, which often focus on posed shots. The resulting photographs tell a story, and evoke emotions, capturing the unique experiences of the family.

These sessions are often cherished by the families as they provide a genuine and lasting documentation of their everyday lives, allowing them to look back and remember the details and emotions of that specific time period.

Please get in touch if you are interested in documenting a day in the life of your family.
