San Diego Family Photographer | Fixy & Elvis

by Kaori Devine Photography | Apr 5, 2017 | Featured, Headshot, Little Italy

This is a story of my friend Fixy and her dog Elvis. She came to me to document their friendship and to preserve this moment with Elvis since he is getting older. We went to James Coffee Co. and took a little walk in the Little Italy neighborhood. Those two were so...

by Kaori Devine Photography | Mar 18, 2017 | Maternity & Newborn

Meet baby Emma and baby Sarah! I always feel so privileged to be a newborn photographer. I get to cuddle and touch these precious brand new babies when they are just few weeks old. I often times meet the babies even before grandparents or their best friends come to...

by Kaori Devine Photography | Jan 5, 2017 | Personal

Happy New Year! We had a busy month in December. The Christmas holiday is my boys’ most favorite holiday as you can probably guess. I really hope Hue, being 8, continues to believe in Santa Claus next year. This year I wanted to even step it up more and do a...

Before and After ☀️ Editing is a personal thing. E Before and After ☀️ Editing is a personal thing. Every photographer has their own style of editing. I think people pick their photographer unknowingly for their colors and maybe composition? Photographer’s personality also shows in their photos. I like my photo editing to be clean, true to life, with a slight romantic flair. Dark and moody or bright and airy was a popular style. I tend to like my images to be balanced, timeless. How do you prefer your photos edited?
Too many cute images I don’t know how to choose fr Too many cute images I don’t know how to choose from this session! 🌸 This is a studio session but it looks like an in-home session right? I love the pure energy of this session. When there are too much giggles that means the images will turn out great! 😁 This mama coordinated everyone’s outfits nicely. When you don’t know what to do with the outfits, choose earthy colors: white, beige, brown, washed jeans, sage green. For the second outfit, you can have fun with a pop of color, or go completely monotone!
Oh my this photoshoot gave me the most uncomfortab Oh my this photoshoot gave me the most uncomfortable eek feeling! We forced ourselves to shoot mid-day in full sun! That usually means lots of blown out hot spots on the faces and harsh shadows. We worked hard to create poses that wont show all the bad effects of shooting in the sun. 👀 I have a whole different editing techniques for these images- less contrast, lower highlights, softer black etc. The couple was so great and sweet! And I love the results. I’ll incorporate more front lit images in my gallery moving on! Do you like these images? Or can you even tell which ones are back-lit and which ones are front-lit? 😆 See behind the scenes in the previous post.
Today’s photography shootout was at Mission Beach. Today’s photography shootout was at Mission Beach. The theme of this month was how to photograph in full Sun, middle of the day! A lot of lifestyle photographers prefer sunset time and back-lit images for the dreamy soft light look. But why not learn how to photograph in mid day, with full Sun? These vibrant color photos will add so much more variety in your gallery and will be sure to surprise your clients! The key was to have the subject look away from the sun - so we don’t get the squinty eyes. Plus who like to look at the sun? 😆 And to have them engage with each other instead of looking at the camera. We ended up with all the action shots/romantic embracing shots and playful shots while the subjects are basking in the sun! I cannot wait to share some images from today! Thx @chrisdowdallcolorsphotography for hosting this monthly photo walk. This is free to all female photographers and we have a lot of fun each month! Please reach out if you’d like to join next month.
