Balboa Park is a popular spot for many reasons. The large urban park in San Diego is known for its stunning architecture, lush gardens and cultural attractions. It offers a wide variety of picturesque locations that can serve as beautiful backdrops for your photoshoot. Here are some of my favorite spots within Balboa Park:

Palm Canyon: A true hidden spot in Balboa Park, the winding paths take the visitor into a shady, lush canyon, not to mention the famous “root” spot (pictured).

Alcazar Garden: This beautifully designed formal garden with intricate tile work and vibrant flowers is perfect for capturing vibrant and colorful shots.

Spreckels Organ Pavilion: The grand pavilion and its large open space can make for dramatic shots, especially if you’re interested in capturing architectural details.

Balboa Park Architecture: The park is home to many beautiful buildings with unique architectural styles, which can be excellent for creating a diverse range of looks.

Japanese Friendship Garden: Fees apply. The garden is known for its tranquil and serene atmosphere, featuring traditional Japanese design elements and beautiful landscapes. 

Balboa Park can get busy. So if you’re aiming for shots without too many people in the background, weekdays might be quieter. It’s also a good idea to check if there are any major events.
